Description
The Ursuline Environmental Education Director is responsible for leading and coordinating environmental education initiatives, programs, and curricula for Sacred Heart Academy, Sacred Heart Model School, and Sacred Heart Preschool. This role focuses on enhancing student learning, engagement, and achievement through strategic planning, professional development, and resource management. Reporting to the Sacred Heart Academy and Sacred Heart Model School Principals, the Ursuline Environmental Education Director will collaborate with leadership, educators, and stakeholders across campus to ensure the integration of environmental teaching practices and sustainability concepts that prepare our students for success.


The Ursuline Environmental Education Director will develop and implement a comprehensive vision for environmental education aligned with Sacred Heart Schools mission, vision, values and goals ensuring components of Laudato Si “Our Common Home” are incorporated into all environmental education curriculum; collaborate with the Office of Catholic Identity and Ursuline Charism to intertwine Catholic teachings and service within our environmental education curriculum; teach lessons in the Environmental Education building/space to provide hands-on education and support for both staff and students, fostering collaboration with environmental and sustainability skill/concept development.


This position will manage the scheduling and operation of the Environmental Education building/space; oversee extracurricular environmental education programming; provide ongoing environmental education training and support to teachers; manage environmental education budgets, procure resources, and oversee the maintenance of the Environmental Education building/space and equipment, including exterior space such as the greenhouse, outdoor classrooms/space, etc.; ensure the safe and effective use of the Environmental Education building/space; build a network of environmental education collaborators; develop coordinated partnerships with outside non-profit organizations, businesses, and programs.


Full-time, 12-month position. Normal business hours, however, evening and/or weekend hours may periodically be required. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift at minimum 30lbs.

Requirements
Minimum education of a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in an environmental education related field with 5+ years of experience in a school/classroom setting and/or environmental or sustainability related field. Experience in teaching, curriculum design and/or leadership roles within environmental education. Strong knowledge of environmental education content, pedagogy, and instructional technologies/equipment. Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
